The Giant Eagle Women's Only Tri is the perfect event for women who want to compete in their first triathlon in a friendly, non-competitive setting.
The Giant Eagle Women's Only Tri features a beginner-friendly 250-yard point-to-point swim in waist deep water followed by a 7-mile bike ride and a 2-mile run.
A Giant Eagle Women's Only Tri Course Preview will be held from 5:30-6:30pm on Friday, July 26 at Alum Creek State Park. The preview features a walk through of the swim, bike and run courses and transition area. No workout equipment is needed.
The Giant Eagle Women's Only Tri will feature a dual time trial start every 3-5 seconds based on your estimated 250-yard swim time.
Registration and Packet Pick Up for the Giant Eagle Women's Only Tri will be held from 4-8pm on Friday, July 26 at Alum Creek State Park and from 5:30-6:45am on Saturday, July 27, Race starts at 7am. Timing Chip Pick Up will be from 5:30-6:45am on Saturday, July 27.
The top three in all age groups, Athena, Mountain Bike, AquaBike (Swim & Bike only) and all relay team divisions will receive awards.
The Giant Eagle Kids Splash & Dash offers kids ages 7 to 14 years old a fun swimming and running event. The Giant Eagle Kids Splash & Dash featured a kid-friendly point-to-point swim in waist deep water along the Alum Creek State Park beach followed by a run within the park and finishing with another point-to point swim before finishing with a sprint to the finish. The Kids Splash & Dash will feature two age divisions: 7-10 and 11-14.
The Giant Eagle Triathlon offers participants a unique point-to-point Olympic and Sprint distance triathlons (with duathlon options, as well) starting from Alum Creek State Park and finishing in the Arena District in downtown Columbus. Triathlon participants will be treated to a swim course in the calm waters of Alum Creek Lake while duathletes run an opening 3K-run within the park. From there, participants will cycle on the flat and fast bike course the rolls through southern Delaware County, Worthington, the Columbus neighborhood of Clintonville, The Ohio State University campus and finally the Arena District in downtown Columbus, where transition No. 2 is located. The Giant Eagle Triathlon is capped off by a run through downtown Columbus that finishes at McPherson Park in the heart of the Arena District.
The Giant Eagle Olympic Triathlon is part of the 5150 Triathlon Series, which features top professional triathletes from across the United States. Professional men begin at 6:30am and Professional women start at 6:33am.
SHUTTLE SERVICE: A shuttle will run from the McPherson Commons (Finish Line) to Alum Creek State Park (Start Line) on Sunday, July 28 for Giant Eagle Triathlon participants. The shuttles will depart McPherson Commons at 5:00am and 5:15am.
The shuttle will also stop at the Sheraton Columbus at Capitol Square at 4:30am to pick up Giant Eagle Triathlon participants, prior to departing from McPherson Commons at 5:00am.
Note: Both events offer a 3-person triathlon or 3-person duathlon relay option.
Aqua Bike division (swim & bike only) participants start with your age group
The Commit To Be Fit 10K Run/Walk, the Commit To Be Fit 5K Run/Walk and the Commit To Be Fit 2K Fitness Walk offer participants a spectacular course that features a unique tour of the Arena District and the Scioto Mile. The three events start and finish at the McPherson Commons in the Arena District in downtown Columbus.
There will be NO aid stations on any of the bike courses. Please prepare accordingly. On the run course there will be water, ice and Gatorade at approximately every mile of the course.
